    PROGRAM: John Harris ~ Succession Planning

    Current Chief of Police of Yankton, SD. Veteran U.S. Army/Wyoming National Guardsman John W. Harris was the Deputy Sheriff for the Platte County Sheriff’s Department in Wheatland, Wyoming and an integral part of the county’s leadership team.  Chief Harris earned his Master’s in Law Enforcement at Western Illinois University, his Bachelors in the same field from the University of Arizona, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the FBI Southwest Command College, the FBI LEEDS class, and the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board Executive Institute.  He has held previous positions as an Arizona Game Ranger/Certified Peace Officer and Chief of Police in Arizona, Wyoming, Illinois, and Missouri.  Overall, Chief Harris has over 41 years of Police experience, over 33 years Police Command, over 21 years Chief of Police experience, and over 30 years Arizona State certified instruction.  He has experience in all aspects of Police Operations, development and administration of police and community programs, a strong community policing background to include instruction, program development/implementation, personnel management, budgeting, and training.  Chief Harris is a past president and legislative member for the Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police and past president of the Southern Arizona Law Enforcement Managers organization.  He’s a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, FBI LEEDS, Fraternal Order of Police, Police Executive Research Forum, the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, Rotary International, and a host of other law enforcement groups.   Chief Harris has extensive associated specialized training and is a real pro when it comes to succession planning.

    COST:  Pay at the door, price will be $12.00 per meal.  If you RSVP that you will attend and then do not attend, you will still be required to pay for your meal.
